Mass Hysteria

Mass Hysteria originates from Chicago's south side underground hip-hop scene. Initially forming in the early nineties, the crew now consists of two emcees, Mike Treese and Gee-Field, backed up by DJ Presyce. Their first taste of wax came in 1999 on the extremely successful Molemen compilation Buried Alive. "Vocabulary Spill" was the song that placed Mass Hysteria along side such Chi-town heroes as Juice, Vakill, and Rhymefest. In 2000 their debut single soon became an underground street classic, "Exclusive" produced by Panik (Molemen) b/w "I Get a Rush," produced by Joint Roc. This 12" established a solid fan base and paved the way for their next bangin' release. The song "Persevere" was highly acclaimed and appeared on the Molemen LP Ritual of the Mole, as well as their lead 12" with joints by Slug, Aesop Rock, MF Doom, and Sage Francis.

"We don't f k with platinum chains we deal with other precious metals example/ I got a heart of gold, an iron will, balls of brass, nerves of steel ."
Gee-Field - "Persevere"

After doing shows with Midwest heavyweights such as ATMOSPHERE, BROTHER ALI, and EYEDEA & ABILITIES, Mass Hysteria joined forces with Rhymesayers Entertainment for their latest 12" (distributed by Fat Beats). "It Ain't Safe" produced by long time Chicago heat maker Dug Infinite (COMMON, ALL NATURAL, MASTA ACE). And "Fall Out" featuring freestyle champ JUICE, track laced by the up and coming producer SC (MOBB DEEP, CAMRON). Listeners can hear these songs plus three new Mass Hysteria joints on their mix cds the CHICAGO UNDERWORLD, and the UNEXPECTED Mix CD.

"You corns can't perform in my city so be warned, you ain't ready to f k with us stick to kiddie porn."
Mike Treese - "It Ain't Safe"

Gee-Field and Mike Treese are inspired lyrically by legendary emcees like KRS One, Rakim, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, and Lord Finesse. Both emcees are consistently ill on the mic, whether spitting razor sharp punchlines, clever wordplay, real life topics or anything in between.

DJ Presyce is a three time Scribble Jam DJ Battle Champion (1998-2000), and a two time DMC Regional DJ Champion (Chicago 1998 and NYC 2001). He placed 2nd in the 2001 DMC USA Finals, and has been the DJ for artists including Vakill, Atmosphere, Rubberroom, Molemen, and the Turntable Technicians. He was influenced by the all time greats like ISP, X-Men, Beat Junkies, Allies, and DJ Premiere. Expect to hear the crew in the future over more sick production from Dug Infinite, SC, and the Molemen. Specializing in that pure street hip hop sound, Mass Hysteria is definitely the next Chicago group to look out for.
